chapter 25 Holden feels so damn happy

Near the end of the chapter Holden takes phoebe to the Carousel, Where he sees her enjoying the happiness of Childhood whilst he is so indulged in this happiness he didn't care he was getting soaked in the rain he was so damn happy. This shows Phoebe's freedom in a sense because she gets to go on the carousel twice and she chooses the same horse each time which makes Holden even happier. He also ends his quest of escape during this occasion he returns to his real identity after a few sulky and dreary days in central New York, he seems to understand things in a more mature way, he realises a life without people who love him (even if they may be lousy) is worth nothing and heart warming moments with Phoebe help him understand this .

Chapter 11

At the start of the chapter Holden starts to remember Jane and all the memories he shared with her. They had summer homes next door to each other. Very slowly they both became very close. Jane was the only person who had seen Allie's baseball mitt. Jane was confronted by her father, she ignored him then she started to cry. Holden grabbed and kissed her, that was the furthest they got with their physical relationship, Holden narrates that he was happy when Jane was around, when he comes back into his room he realises  that the lights in the “perverts’” rooms are switched off. He then catches a Taxi

Chapter 10

Sorry I haven't been blogging recently.

In chapter 10 Holden appears to be insecure therefore he changes his shirt and goes down to the nightclub 'Lavender Room'. Before he leaves he remembers his sister, Phoebe, he gives a brief description of her which his similar to that of his brother - Allie - who he earlier mentions in the novel. She is intelligent for her age he says. When he's in the Lavender Room, where he his refused to be served alcohol by the waiter regardless of his height and grey hair. He then tries flirting with 3 older women, but they take no interest. After a while they start to annoy him by mentioning movie stars - as we know Holden isn't a big fan of Hollywood - they also start laughing at him. Holden lies to them about seeing a famous actor, but that doesn't go down well so he decides to leave.

Holden appears to start his story in a bitter way, to set the scene of what's going to be an upsetting telling of his past. In these first few chapters Sallinger shows the way Holden communicates and thinks of people around him example: 'phonies' is a negative approach to the people around him. He holds a very negative view of prency  prep, but .............................to be continued!
